Hyspan supplies a comprehensive selection of pipe motion products to marine and shipbuilding applications for new construction, maintenance, and modernization. Services involve thermal expansion or contraction, vibration reduction, installation misalignment, and hull flex.  

For more than a half-century, we have designed, engineered, manufactured, and tested various expansion joint and metal hose technologies. In addition, Hyspan has acquired specific brands to increase product range and industry support. Only Hyspan manufactures all 4-metal expansion joint technologies. This provides maximum capability with extensive experience to support marine and shipbuilding.  

Hyspan’s complete line of products include metal bellows expansion joints, packed expansion joints, ball joints, metal hoses, and fabric expansion joints. Services include expansion joints for main engine exhaust, auxiliary exhaust, emission management, incinerator exhaust, fire suppression, fuel, ballast/deballast, water, air, engine cooling, and others. 

Products are available with various bellows and hose materials which include: 304, 321, 316L, Alloy 625, Alloy 400, and Alloy C-276. Although the product selected can be a standard Hyspan configuration or an adaptation of a standard, many applications are custom designed to meet unique requirements including specialty equipment flanges.  

Designs may comply with the Expansion Joint Manufacturer’s Association (EJMA®) Standards, ASTM F1120-87 specification, or American Bureau of Shipping registration, and other specifications. Hyspan can meet challenging engineering problems and manage major contracts.   

Hyspan is an ISO 9001:2015 registered company with a quality system that supports requirements of the piping and boiler pressure vessel codes. These include popular ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and ASME Section VIII Division 1 codes. European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) standards, with CE markings, can be supported in many applications. Canadian Registration Number (CRN) support is available. 

Nondestructive testing and inspections are performed by company personnel including radiography. Quality personnel are certified to the standards of the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Hyspan is a member of the Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association (EJMA ®).
